Remove Odor from Smoke, Pets and Mold

Author: Jeff Maietta

Scented and fresh rooms and premises is the dream of every good housewife and a dedicated office manager. The first impression of those who enter your house or an office is mostly based on the smell of the premises. Scented premises point to the responsible people who take a good care of the things in their life. If you want your guests or business partners to have a good opinion of you, you should take care of the cleanliness of your premises.

The most persistent odors are those from pets, smoke, and mold. These odors in most cases require special methods in order for them to be removed from the house, office or a car.

Removing pet odor

Whether you have a dog or a cat in your home or you just moved somewhere where pets used to live and you want to remove their odor, you should use white vinegar and baking soda. Just buy a simple pump sprayer in a store and fill it with vinegar and four tablespoons of baking soda. Spray the floors, carpets, and furniture with it and let it evaporate for a few days. Both white vinegar and baking soda work miracles for persistent odors such as pet odor. You can add a few drops of citronella oil into the vinegar to diminish the smell of it.

Removing smoke odor

For removing smoke odor, you have a couple of options. First, you can use white vinegar, spray it all over the house and let it evaporate for a few days. Also, you can open a can of coffee beans and let it sit for a while. The smell of coffee is more pleasant than the smell of cigarettes. Another way is that you sprinkle a baking soda all over the house, let it sit for a day or two and then vacuum the entire house.

Removing mold odor

Regarding mold odor, you should first fix the problem that is causing this odor. Afterwards, clean and scrub the surfaces with the cleaning agent you made yourself. This cleaning agent should contain one part boric acid, two parts white vinegar, two parts hydrogen peroxide and four parts water. Scrub the walls, furniture, and floors with it, but be careful not to saturate the areas since too much moisture can make things worse.

Of course, the best option is to call professional cleaning company to free you from all sorts of odors once and for all.
